                         Living abroad is great (b2)

Most people would agree that living abroad allows you to live more comfortably. In fact, many families decide to move to a foreign country in order to get a better future. The following essay takes a look at both sides of the argument.

On the one hand, one of the main advantages of living in a foreign country is that people can earn more money. Moreover, you can learn and become fluent in another language.

On the other hand, it may be difficult for people to adapt to a new place.Sometimes they may miss their family and feel  lonely. In addition, if someone can not speak the language, they may get frustrated.

To sum up,  I firmly believe that the advantages of living abroad outweigh the disadvantages due to the fact that living abroad brings people the opportunity of achieving a better lifestyle.

The advantages and disadvantages of being famous (C1)

Everybody would agree that almost everyone wants to be famous, even small children wish to become famous in the future. The majority of people see just great things about being famous. But being famous is not as much fun as everybody thinks. Fame comes as a price but gives you some pleasures too. Futhermore, being famous can be rewarding. Famous people have a safe income and their lives are made easier in many aspects. They can afford more expensive things for themselves. What is more, sometimes celebrities are given free items by companies who use them to advertise their products, not to mention the fact that at times they do not pay in restaurants or hotels and are also invited to attend important functions.

Despite all these good things fame has a price. Famous people do not have any private lives. Everyone talks about celebrities’ lives but at times they are victims of gossip and libel. Sometimes this gossip has caused depression for famous people. Some of them are even chased by their fans and paparazzi. Additionally, many people seek advantage of celebrities, for that reason they  are never sure who their real friends are and tend to live isolated lives. Some of them live in fear so their lives become even more stressful.

All things considered, being an ordinary person outweighs the advantages of being a rich and famous one. Celebrities’ lives are not as nice as we all imagine. Many of them are fraught with problems.

                EXAMPLE

                Dear Mrs Lake,

It’s nice to hear from you and I am happy to answer your questions.

I think it’d be a great idea to have a party with the whole class.

Regarding the party, I think we should have our party at the park due to the fact that we’re in the classroom all the time so this would be a nice change.

There are some ping pong tables at the park and I can bring my football so why don’t we make teams and have a tournament?

In my opinion, we should have a barbecue. We can bring meat and some drinks like Coca Cola and everyone will be happy. Thanks again and see you in class.

                Looking forward to your reply.

                Best wishes,

                Jane
